EXCELLENT Based on 470 reviews Neil F2025-07-10Verified Best experience in Cambodia Arrived in Kratie last night and stayed at Sorya guesthouse. Had booked in for the tour the next afternoon, however, they advised me that evening a large group had done a last minute cancellation and did I want to go in the morning. I said yes as it usually rains in the afternoons. The paddle across the Mekong was arduous at this time of year with the river in flood and I asked my guide Ben how inexperienced paddlers make it across, he said he tows them. WOWWe get to the other side and he graciously lets me have a rest before paddling to the first possible dolphin spotting location. OMG dolphins everywhere, we stayed there for nearly two hours watching them surface metres from us.Honestly I couldn't have hoped for more, his knowledge of the dolphins was excellent and was happy to answer all my questions in near perfect English. Can't recommend Sorya tours enough along with the guesthouse AMAZING 😍 Fiona2025-06-25Verified Amazing experience Amazing Paddling’s on the Mekong and seeing the dolphins. Must do. Ben our guide was fabulous and strong as he tied the kayaks together and paddled while we filmed the dolphins. Must do experience. Nicola M2025-06-10Verified Excellent trip! Highly recommend 👌 Loved everything about this trip. The home-made pumpkin bread and coffee was delicious, the kayaking was fun and our stop on the sand island was a nice way to cool off with a swim in the river and yum local snacks. We spent a good amount of time viewing the dolphins and kayaking made it all the more personal. 10/10 - highly recommend! perthsaint2025-04-02Verified Great Trip Well organised & professional kayak trip to see the dolphins in the Mekong. Meet for coffee & cake and get a briefing on the activity before jumping on a jeep to head 20km upstream to start the kayaking.Ben was an excellent guide and provided lots of info on the way. Stop for snacks & swim at the half way point and then you paddle to see the dolphins. We saw lots but it's difficult to get a picture as they surface only for a second or two. There was a slight breeze when we did the trip so combined with the current it's quite a tough but enjoyable day. Felicity2025-01-11Verified Fantastic way to see dolphins A great trip to see the dolphins, it's hard work at point with the currents but worth the effort to have the dolphins swimming around us. Provided with kayak, dry bags, paddles and water. Highly recommend swim gear to cool off halfway. Kayaks are great, the guide accompanies us and explains the landscape, dolphins, etc.In the afternoon, we could see the dolphins in the sunset, beautifulAbsolutely what to do if we stay in Kratie Matt P2024-12-12Verified 10/10! A must visit when in Kratie. Thank you Borey for being such an excellent guide! WOW!!! 10/10 visit. Borey was an excellent guide. His knowledge is so impressive and he has a genuine care for the environment and the 'Mekong' (Irrawaddy) dolphins. The morning started with delicious and big slice of pumpkin cake, as well as a drink of choice.Borey sat with my partner and I and explained the day and gave a general safety briefing. Borey's English is perfect and he was able to answer all the questions we had.Once we left, we had a half an hour drive up alongside the river to reach the starting point. We kayaked across the Mekong before starting our descent down the river. We stopped at a very special sand bank for a swim and some snack. Borey took this opportunity to explain more about the dolphins, their population and current affairs. We then drifted down the river to the site of the dolphins. We saw them in droves and were very lucky to see them jumping out of the water. We then paddled back across the river to the waiting tuk tuk to drive us back.Again, 10/10!! James R2024-12-10Verified Best experience in Cambodia Me and my partner did the half day afternoon trip with sorya kayaking and was one of the best experiences of our time in Cambodia. First of all our guide, Ben, was very informative and knowledgeable as well as being good fun. During the trip we kayaked across the Mekong and thorough it's different environments and had opportunities for rest, a snack (which is provided) and a swim. This alone was worth doing the trip! But obviously the finale was getting to see the Irrawaddy dolphins of the Mekong. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and was amazing to see them. Although they are not as acrobatic or active as bottle nose dolphins, they are still a spectacle and with the sun setting over the Mekong this is a must do in Cambodia. Also, they are the only LEGAL operators in the area that do tours on the river to see the dolphins and being in kayaks this will not disturb the dolphins like the motorised boats do. cjy332024-12-04Verified Great experience I highly recommend this activity. Professional, competent and friendly guide. We took a very nice kayak ride between the sandbanks to finally see many dolphins. It's definitely nicer than crowding together on a motorboat, loud..we it was great! 5 kayaks and it was awesome!
